Woman in the Mirror
Who is the woman in the mirror,
the one with the blotchy skin,
with the puffy face and thinning hair.
Who is the woman in the mirror?
that woman is me!
Who would have thought 15 years ago,
that woman would be me.
It's definately not what I imagined her to look like.
Now I wish that all the faces that I saw through the years,
the ones with the scars,
the one's with the "deformaties",
the ones with the "differences",
If I could have taken the time to look past the "differences",
I could have seen that underneath the not quite right exterior
Lies a person with feelings,
a fighter,
a survivor,
a person.
Just like the woman in the mirror.
Just like me.

Thank-you for this. It is wonderful.
thanks, Mariaa, It really meant something to me and I had to put it down on paper. Sarah
Wonderful poem - insides matter more than what you see in the mirror! We all are beautiful inside and out! Makes one stop and think about what we teach our children . My daughter does not see people with disabilities any different - she has the biggest kindest heart! I have taught my children - we are all equal- we all bleed red and god made everyone! You see people for their hearts!
I think the way we raise our kids is a reflection of who we are and it sounds like you are definately doing it right. Thanks. Sarah
